About Us

The journey of About Giving begins in the late 1980s when we were known as Flying Flowers NZ. Originally, we soared as a mail-order company specialising in carnations, sending bouquets with other Flying Flowers partnerships around the globe. In 2005, Flying Flowers expanded into 'About Giving', adapting to the digital era, and broadening our offerings to include not just fresh flowers but also gourmet gift hampers and unique living tree gifts.

In 2021, a new chapter unfolded as Jeremy and Hayley Pitts embraced the reins of About Giving. These directors are not your typical gift-giving enthusiasts – they are high country farmers at the majestic Mount Gladstone in Awatere Valley, Marlborough. At an elevation of 2,570 metres, Mount Gladstone is home to around 8000 merinos spread across 5500 hectares, producing premium fine fibre highly sought after worldwide. A significant portion of this exquisite material finds its way to the discerning hands of Devold in Norway.

Under the stewardship of Jeremy and Hayley, About Giving has undergone a revitalisation. A new website welcomes you, offering a seamless shopping experience that merges the legacies of Flying Flowers NZ and About Giving. The gourmet products have been updated, with a focus on supporting New Zealand-made and small businesses. Our commitment to excellence remains unwavering – impeccable customer service, thoughtful and beautifully designed gifts for every occasion, and fast nationwide delivery.

While About Giving may look different today, the essence of our story remains unchanged.
